NO IDOLS PRESS #1: SONGS OF PRAISE
SOLD OUT!!! 2ND PRINTING COMING SOON!
In an effort to save my mind and body from deteriorating under the strain of the ole MS, I have decided to add a DIY publishing wing onto this self-molded No Idols empire. The first release on No Idols Press is Songs of Praise penned by this jerk I know named Tony Rettman. Maybe you’ve heard of the S.O.B…
Culled from this very newsletter, Songs of Praise is a collection of essays I’ve written about the music of Black Flag, The MC5, Minor Threat, Dag Nasty, Youth of Today, Jerry’s Kids, Unity, and Pushed Aside. This first run of the book will be in an edition of only twenty-five copies. More copies will be printed if there is a demand. The book is forty 8.5 x 11 pages and all copies have been lovingly and sloppily printed and hand-bound by me. Also included in the deal will be a ledger-sized ‘zine as well as stickers, postcards, and whatever else I find lying around here.
Orders for the book are now open over at the No Idols big cartel page.
While you’re over there, maybe throw something else in on your order like the reissue of the Dutch Hardcore classic by Nog Watt Fear or the twelve-inch EP by unheralded post-Turning Point unit Godspeed? Do you still need a copy of any of my other books? That’s something else you can pick up. These are all suggestions, I swear!
It has actually been a lot of fun putting Songs of Praise together. I got to relearn some skills (hand-binding books for example) and fake my way through learning some new ones. Hopefully, there will be enough interest in it that I can keep this up and have a hobby to occupy my time while keeping me connected to the world of decent, honest weirdos.
Once again, here is a link to order one of these bad Larry Birds.
Thanks for the support.
