BETTER NEVER THAN LATE: Midwest Hardcore Flyers And Ephemera 1981 - 1984
As one of the first cities in America to have a Hardcore Punk scene, the legacy of Detroit runs deep within the genre's history. With the irreverent content of their flagship fanzine Touch & Go and the grunt of units like Negative Approach, Necros, and The Meatmen representing their decrepit town, these suburban skate punks radiated an aesthetic and sound many find captivating to this very day.
“Better Never Than Late” collects all the goods from that exciting time in the Motor City, including both the flyers advertising shows held in burnt-out warehouses to the photos from these sweat-soaked events, plus fanzines, clippings, and other assorted detritus. Do you want proof that the Midwest rules? Then look no further than “Better Never Than Late”, ya weenbags! ALL ORDERS WILL COME WITH A DETROIT FLYER BOOKMARK! WOAH!
ANTIDOTE - Thou Shalt Not Kill LP
When Radio Raheem was tasked with re-releasing Antidote's classic "Thou Shalt Not Kill" 7" EP, they asked the band to dig into the vaults for a little something extra to pad things out into a 12", and they came up in spades! In addition to the legendary 8-song EP, you get the band's first seven-song demo recorded in 1982 at Jerry Williams' infamous 171A Studios, plus two songs recorded shortly thereafter for the lost Bad Brains Records compilation, and a previously uncirculated 12-song live set from 1983. The early demos feature original Antidote singer Jeff White plus future Prong/Danzig axeman Tommy Victor on bass and show the natural evolution from the band's punky roots to the well-oiled hardcore machine they became on their vinyl debut. That’s twenty-nine tracks total of classic New York hardcore, twenty-one of which have never been heard anywhere before! The LP also includes a 16-page, 12"x12" booklet containing photos, flyers, and extensive liner notes by guitarist/founding member Robb "Nunzio" Ortiz, plus a reproduction of the band's original sticker design. ALL ORDERS WILL COME WITH AN 11x17 ‘ZINE CONTAINING THE INTERVIEW CONDUCTED WITH LOUIE RIVERA FOR THE NYHC BOOK!
THE WORST - The Worst of The Worst
Hailing from the Jersey Shore, The Worst began their career in the late 1970s playing frequent gigs at Max's Kansas City and CBGB, drawing on the proto-punk sounds of The Stooges and MC5 and refining it into their own brand of proto-hardcore. By the early 1980s, the band stripped things down even further to a high-velocity hardcore sound and kicked off the legendary Mutha label with the release of their debut 7" in 1982. Their follow-up release, the Expect The Worst 12" from 1984, finds the band hitting their loud and fast peak with precision songwriting and performing rarely matched by other hardcore bands of the time. Originally released on CD in 2004 by Parts Unknown Records, this LP version combines both of The Worst's incendiary vinyl releases with an 8-song live set recorded at the legendary Max's Kansas City in 1979. Also includes a 12-page, 12"x12" booklet containing rare flyers and photos, plus newly-penned liner notes by vocalist Do-It.
KRIEG KOPF - War On Terrorism
Formed out of the ashes of proto-NYHC unit The Attack, Krieg Kopf was a fixture on CBGB's matinees during the 80s but never got beyond a couple of demo tapes. "War on Terrorism" collects their 1984 demo "Passen Sie Auf Es Ist" and their self-titled demo from 1986 along with sessions from an aborted LP and a live track from CBGB's. "War on Terrorism" also comes with a 12 x 36 full-color insert and an iron-on transfer.
