Hey there!Â
Hello and welcome to a break from all the chaos via the fifth installment of the Sandpaper Lullaby podcast. We hope you’re holding up.Â
Our guest this week is James June Schneider, co-director of the documentary about the Washington D.C punk scene, Punk The Capital. Listen in as James and I discuss his entry into the punk scene in the mid-80s, the forgotten bands within the history of D.C punk and his latest project: a documentary on the underground news collective from the 60s, The Newsreel (co-directed with filmmaker Ivora Cusack).
PLEASE NOTE: I (Tony) am working remotely and do not have access to our usual recording equipment. So, please excuse the sound quality for some of this episode.Â
Thanks as usual to our producer, Eliot Muka. Thanks as well to James for taking the time to talk with us and John Woods from the Nitehawk Cinema for setting up the interview and giving us a space to record. Barring whatever might happen between then and now, please tune in on Sunday, April 5th when we will be capping off the first season of the podcast with our long-promised episode with Brian Baker of Minor Threat, Government Issue, The Meatmen, Dag Nasty, Junkyard, Bad Religion, Fake Names and Beach Rats (Man, that was a mouthful!) And if you want to hear the complete, uncut interviews used for the podcast, please consider becoming a paid subscriber. You’ll get access to all the complete interviews as well as bonus content. You’re gonna be holed up for a while and have time to kill...so why the hell not?Â
